Going Nowhere

Going Nowhere explores the question of ‘suspended time’ experienced by refugees, through  revisiting a work I created in the first intifada. The bicycle extracted from the painting is without a rider, while the children who once played on the bike appear as ghostly figures. The ground of the painting is made from the sacks of flour that are still distributed to refugees. The fragments of the scene invite us to question the lost history of the rider. (Mixed media installation, 240 x 240cm, 2005)
