Naiman | نعيمان

Naiman, explores the oral histories of men who took their baths in the historic bathhouse in the old city of East Jerusalem. The bathhouse which no longer functions in its role as a hamam, is a place of memories for an older generation for whom the bath before their wedding night was memorable experience. The work is site specific sound installation, in which stories of these men are triggered by our movement across the space. Men now in the 70s recall the bathing rituals with humour, reflection and candidness of their experiences.
