Measures of Uncertainty

In the collection Measures of Uncertainty my interest is in the moment after solidarity dissipates and collectivity melts into thin air. As such in the paintings people wander in all directions and relations show themselves to be contingent: moments are filled with uncertainty which undulates in the gesture of the crowd and individual figures. No longer engulfed by idealism it is the details and paradoxes of the crowd that capture my attention. I am drawn to the serendipity of crowds in the urban terrain as public spaces are filled with temporary relationships of people, often watching and waiting. I preserve and distill the transcience of the moment as it articulated through the gestures of the body.  As the figures cast no shadow and the specificity of place has been erased the series attempts to raise questions of the pervading condition of our times across the Middle East.
